Wednesday 9/30/15 Language Arts

Per. 2 – Reading (8:15-9:42)

Take out:

  • Agenda, open to this week’s reading
  • This week’s poetry packet
  • Independent Reading book

How can we ask a variety of questions about what we are reading?

Thick and thin questions:

  • Thin = the answer is right there in the text
  • Thick = you have to think about it, infer, find other resources, etc.
  • Poem #16: Second Daughter’s…

SILENT Work time:

  • Agenda checks (open to last week).
  • Read and annotate “Cousins”, “Uncle Odell”, and “Football Dreams”. Be prepared to discuss the questions you asked about each one.
  • SSR when finished / Update Book Log
  • Fluency group

Bonus Writing Lesson:

 

Homework: 

  1. Read 30 minutes (20+ pages) and log in agenda: Title, pages read, 2-sentence summary, parent signature.
  2. Continue writing Before-you-were-born poems.
  3. Continue Word Study for spelling test Friday.
  4. Continue selling Fundraiser items!
  5. Bring sunglasses for tomorrow’s Spirit Competition!

* Scholastic Orders due on Friday.
