Wednesday 1/27/16 Language Arts

Per. 2 – Writing (8:15-9:42)

Take out:

  • AVT book
  • Agenda, open to last week’s reading

 

What does reason have to do with cause and effect?

  • AVT Share: reason, p. 46-47

What will you say to your parents about how you are doing?

Conference prep (whether you are having a conference with me at school or with your parent at home):

  • Calculate GPA and add to graph
  • Write letter to parents: 1 paragraph about your strengths, 1 paragraph about your goals for the next 6 weeks and how you will achieve them

How can we tell if our persuasive essay is as strong as it can possibly be?

Persuasive Lesson 10: Analyzing Essays Against a Checklist

  • Use all available tools (grading checklist, revision checklist, notes in spiral, sample essay) to help you revise and strengthen your essay

 

Homework: 

  1. Read 30 minutes (25+ pages) and log in agenda: Title, pages read, 2-sentence summary, parent signature. 
  2. Persuasive Essay final draft due tomorrow!
