Thursday 9/22/16 – Language Arts

Good Morning, Class!

Per. 1 (8:15-9:42)

Please take out:

  • computer OR Collections book and spiral notebook
  • agenda, open to last week’s reading

Warm Up:

When I say, “Go,” find a person you feel comfortable with in the classroom and sit facing that person. Once again, you will try to maintain eye contact as we do the following:

  • Discuss with your partner how the image below relates to the article we were reading yesterday.

Learning Target: Students will be able to determine central ideas and supporting details in informational text.

Remember we are annotating the text using:

  • purple highlights for author’s voice, funny images, figurative language (similes, metaphors), etc.
  • yellow highlights for Main or Central Ideas
  • green highlights for Supporting Details

Today, we will also be adding notes.

 

Now take the “In the Spotlight” assessment. Remember to ACE the last two questions!

 

Homework:

  1. Read 20 pages (or more) in a chapter book of your choice and log:
    1. Title
    2. Pg. ___ to ___
    3. Two sentences about your reading
    4. Parent signature
