Extended Writing Project – Thesis Statement

  • Define: Video and paragraph
    • What are the most important elements of a thesis statement?
    • What is the purpose of the thesis statement in an informative essay?
    • Why should a thesis statement express the writer’s main or central idea?
  • Model: Read and annotate
    • Does this thesis statement effectively answer the prompt? Why or why not?
    • What would your group add, change or edit to improve this thesis statement?
  • Your Turn
    • Discuss the question choices with your partner
    • Make your best choices and click “save and continue”
  • Write: Create the thesis statement for your three-person essay
    • What is the central idea that you are going to try to get across in your informative essay?

  1. Read 25+ pages and log on Biblionasium:
