Learning Target: Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of grade level text, noting new vocabulary and answering basic comprehension questions.

Freedom Walkers Ch. 2 – Claudette Colvin

  • Read chapter, noting any new vocabulary
  • Annotate text on SS using Write questions and Think question

 

Per. 2 (9:12-10:00)

Learning Target: Students will be able to explain how a text’s structure contributes to the development of its ideas.

Skill: Informational Text Structure

  • Define: Review four types of information text structure
  • Read and annotate important parts of Model
  • Partner Practice: Your Turn
  • Independent Practice: Annotate ACE answers to Skills Focus questions

When finished: Independent reading in a book of your choice

Homework:

  1. Read 25+ pages and log on Biblionasium:
    1. Book title
    2. Page #s you read (p. ____ to p. ____)
    3. Big Thing that Happened (1-2 sentences: Who? What? When? Where?) + 1 question, prediction, inference, connection, visualization, or new word and how you guessed its meaning
  2. Finish all work on Classroom and StudySync.

Learning Target: Students will be able to collaborate on creating a commercial that demonstrates understanding of the three types of persuasive appeals: pathos, logos, and ethos.

Commercial Project (go to Classroom)

  • Do Requirements sheet first
  • Then work on Script Outline
  • When script (and product prototype/drawing) is ready, make commercial in WeVideo.
