Good Morning, Class!

Please take out:

Learning Target: Students will be able to read and understand informational text by using context clues to figure out the meanings of new words and finding main ideas and details.

Freedom Walkers Ch. 5 – Boycott Heroes

  • As you read the chapter, pay attention to new words and try to decipher their meanings using context clues
  • Also find a passage that jumps out at you and be prepared to say why

Per. 2 (9:12-10:00)

  • Open the Ch. 5 notetaking doc on Classroom
  • Discuss vocab and Key Passages
  • ACE Close Read questions
  • Discussion
  • Extend Activity

Homework:

  1. Read 25+ pages and log on Biblionasium:
    1. Book title
    2. Page #s you read (p. ____ to p. ____)
    3. Big Thing that Happened (1-2 sentences: Who? What? When? Where?) + 1 question, prediction, inference, connection, visualization, or new word and how you guessed its meaning
  2. Finish all work on Classroom and StudySync.

Research and record possible counterarguments to the Con side on graphic organizer:

  2. Should Tablets Replace Textbooks in K-12 Schools?
  3. Do Violent Video Games Contribute to Youth Violence?
  4. Should the Olympics stay in one place?
  5. Should we celebrate Christopher Columbus?
  6. Is our society ready for self-driving cars?
