Good Morning, Class!

Please take out:

The Pullman Boycott: A Complete History of the Great R.R. Strike

Learning Target: Students will be able to analyze how an author develops the point of view of characters in a text.

Open The Pullman Boycott (assignment on SS)

  • Re-read introduction together to understand background
  • Finish first-read/listen of text and annotate:

Per. 2 (9:12-10:00)

  • Discuss Think Questions (jot answers as we go)
  • Write prompt: Groups jigsaw POV for re-reading and notetaking
  • Partner-write dialogues and perform for your group (video?)

Homework:

  1. Read 25+ pages and log on Biblionasium:
    1. Book title
    2. Page #s you read (p. ____ to p. ____)
    3. Big Thing that Happened (1-2 sentences: Who? What? When? Where?) + 1 question, prediction, inference, connection, visualization, or new word and how you guessed its meaning
  2. Finish all work on Classroom and StudySync.

Per. 3 (10:03-10:51)

Please take out:

  • Chromebook

Choose new topics:

  1. Should More Gun Control Laws Be Enacted?
  2. Should People Become Vegetarian?
  3. Should All Americans Have the Right to Health Care?
  4. Is Refusing to Stand for the National Anthem an Appropriate Form of Protest?
  5. Is a College Education Worth It?
  6. Should Sanctuary Cities Receive Federal Funding?

Bring up your new Debate Graphic Organizer to take notes on PRO side of topic.
