Good Morning, Class!

Please take out:

  • Chromebook
  • “Monsters Are Due” teleplay

Per. 1-2 (8:15-10:00) – Language Arts

Monsters Are Due – Setting

  • Discuss Butter Battle Book
  • Preview questions for The 50s, view and discuss
  • Preview next question, then view “UFO: Friend, Foe or Fantasy” (up to 2:40), discuss
  • Read next part, then view 44:51 to end. Catch Sagan quotes while viewing video.
  • Read prompt, discuss, quiet writing time
  • Extend activities from Setting or previous assignment (for Extra Credit)

Per. 3 (10:03-10:51) – Creative Writing

Learning Target: Students will be able to write purposeful dialogue, description, and action in a collaborative script.

Go to Dialogue, Description, Action assignment on Classroom.

  • Open Writing Awesome Dialogue in Kami and read p. 1-3 silently, discuss
  • Write 3-4 examples of each kind of dialogue on p. 4-5 (does not have to be related to your group story idea), share and guess purpose
  • Open Lights, Camera, Actionin Kami and read p. 1-2 silently, discuss
  • Do p. 3-4, making text boxes for the writing

Homework:

  1. Read 30+ pages and log on Biblionasium:
    1. Book title
    2. Page #s you read (p. ____ to p. ____)
    3. Big Thing that Happened (1-2 sentences: Who? What? When? Where?) + 1 question, prediction, inference, connection, visualization, or new word and how you guessed its meaning
  2. Extra Credit: Do Extend activities on “Monsters Are Due” assignments. Turn in on Classroom.
