Good Morning, Class!

Per. 1 (8:15-9:05) – Language Arts
Learning Target: Students will be able to perform an initial reading of a text and demonstrate comprehension by annotating new words, questions, and thoughts, and to practice and apply concrete strategies for identifying the central or main idea.

Per. 2 (9:08-9:56) – Independent Reading/Fluency
Please take out:
- Reading Log
- independent reading book
Homework share:
- Take out your “Want to Read” list
- 1 person from each table group will share last night’s reading log summary
- If the book sounds interesting to you, write it down
- Discuss: Which strategy did this person use?
STAR TESTING (Access through Addams –> Student Links)
Independent Reading/Fluency:
- Write today’s date, title/author, and page number you are starting on.
- Stay focused on your reading the entire time. If your eyes wander, bring them back to your book.
- When we are finished, write the page number you stopped on and a 1-2 sentence BTH. Add one place that you used a thinking strategy (visualizing, questioning, context clues, inferring) to deepen your understanding of what was happening in the book.
