Good Morning, Class!
Please come in quietly and take out:
- Chromebook
Per. 3 (9:33-10:47) – Speech and Debate
Learning Target: Students will be able to create an advertisement campaign for a newly designed product or cause utilizing one or more persuasive technique: logos, ethos, pathos.
Open Commercial Requirements doc on Classroom
- Choose groups
- Brainstorm product/service/cause
- Start planning advertisement
Per. 2 (11:36-12:50) – Language Arts
Please come in quietly and take out:
- Our Heroes (white book) from bin
- Chromebook
Learning Target: Students will be able to answer comprehension questions about a text by re-reading closely and thinking and inferring from textual details.
Open Close Read: Freedom Walkers assignment on StudySync
- Comp:
- Read the question carefully at least once.
- Refer to the text and read to gain context and understanding
- Examine every answer choice and rule out the “bad” ones
- Re-read the question and pick the best answer choice
- Write:
- Open Google doc from within SS
- Brainstorm: Make a list (t-chart, Venn Diagram) of details about Claudette and Rosa using evidence from both texts
- Form your idea
- Begin writing
- Proofread (whisper read text out loud to yourself) and fix any mistakes
- Peer Reviews:
- Read the essay carefully all the way through
- Stop and think about each question/rubric item
- Write helpful feedback (as many things they did well as you want to mention, 1 thing to work on next time)
Group 1: Skill: Connecting Ideas & Close Read essay
Group 2: Read Freedom Walkers Ch. 3: Rosa Parks and complete doc on Classroom
Homework:
- Read 25+ pages and log (on Biblionasium/Destiny):
- Title/author
- p. ____ to p. ____
- BTH (1-2 sentences: Who? What? When? Where?) + 1 visualization, thick question, use of context clues, or inference
- Complete Close Read: Freedom Walkers (including peer reviews) and turn in on StudySync.
- Academic Vocabulary L6 on StudySync (due Fri. 1/18).
