IM 3.7: Equivalent Ratios Have the Same Unit Rates

Learning Target: Students will be able to give an example of two equivalent ratios and show that they have the same unit rates, as well as to multiply or divide by the unit rate to calculate missing values in a table of equivalent ratios.

Let’s revisit equivalent ratios.

Open IM 3.7: Equivalent Ratios Have the Same Unit Rates (Student Task Statements) on Classroom

  • Warm-Up 7.1: Which One Doesn’t Belong: Comparing Speeds
    • 1 minute quiet think time
    • Table group discussion: Find at least one reason why each question does not belong.
  • Activity 7.2: Price of Burritos
    • 5 minutes quiet work time on 1 & 2
    • 2 minutes to discuss with partner
    • Complete #s 3 & 4 together
    • Class discussion
  • Activity 7.3: Making Bracelets
    • 4 minutes quiet work time on #s 1-3
    • 2 minutes to discuss with partner
    • Class discussion
  • Activity 7.4: How Much Applesauce? (Extend/Extra Credit)
  • Cool-Down 7.5: Cheetah Speed

Homework:

  1. Complete all parts ofIM 3.7: Equivalent Ratios Have the Same Unit Rates and turn in on Classroom.
