Friday 3/15/19 – Language Arts

Good Morning, Class!

Please come in quietly and take out:

  • books for Heroes essay
  • Chromebook

Per. 1 (8:15-9:05) – Language Arts

Complete Academic Vocabulary Lesson 8 if not finished!

Learning Target copyLearning Target:  Students will be able to use body paragraph structure and transitions in argumentative writing as well as effectively integrate quoted and paraphrased evidence and cite the evidence to avoid plagiarism.

Open 05. Argumentative Organizer and 06. Essay Draft

Write body paragraphs 1 and 2. Remember structure:

  • A: reason that relates to claim (topic sentence that focuses your paragraph)
  • C: evidence (paraphrased or quoted, with citation)
  • E: elaboration that connects the evidence back to claim

and to connect the pieces with transitions!

Per. 2 (9:08-9:56)

When finished with all three body paragraphs:

Do Commonly Confused Words: Affect, Effect and Consistent Pronoun Use lessons on StudySync

Homework:

  1. Read 30+ pages and log on Biblionasium:
    1. Title/author
    2. p. ____ to p. ____
    3. BTH (1-2 sentences: Who? What? When? Where?) + 1 visualization, thick question, use of context clues, or inference
  2. Finish drafting all five paragraphs of Hero Essay on draft doc.
  3. Do Commonly Confused Words: Affect, Effect and Consistent Pronoun Use lessons on StudySync.

Per. 3 (10:01-10:49) – Creative Writing
