Tuesday 3/20/18 – Language Arts
Good Morning, Class!
Please take out:
- Chromebook
Per. 1 (8:15-9:09)
Learning Target: Students will be able to evaluate student work and offer helpful feedback in order to assist the revising process.
- If your draft is finished: Do Grammar sheet “Writing Effective Sentences”
- Using your essay organizer as a reference, look at each sentence in your draft and ask:
- Is the meaning as clear as it could be?
- Does every sentence express a complete thought?
- Does every sentence do what it is supposed to do? (A, C, E)
- Are your sentences in the best order?
- Did you try out various types of sentences: simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex?
Per. 2 (9:12-10:00)
- You will use the “Curious Questions” strategy, along with the essay organizer and argumentative rubric to provide helpful feedback.
- Share your draft document: “___ can comment”
- Read one sentence at a time on your partner’s draft.
- When you have a question, highlight that part and make a comment that asks a question.
Homework:
- Read 30+ pages and log on Biblionasium:
- Book title
- Page #s you read (p. ____ to p. ____)
- Big Thing that Happened (1-2 sentences: Who? What? When? Where?) + 1 question, prediction, inference, connection, visualization, or new word and how you guessed its meaning
