Tuesday 9/18/18 – Language Arts

Good Morning, Class!

Please take out:

  • Hatchet book and green folder from bin

Per. 1 (8:15-9:05) – Language Arts

Learning Target: Students will be able to notice details about a character’s words, actions, and thoughts in order to make important inferences.

Hatchet: Chapter 1

Per. 2 (9:08-9:56) – Independent Reading/Fluency

Please take out:

  • Reading Log
  • independent reading book

Independent Reading/Fluency:

  • Write today’s date, title/author, and page number you are starting on.
  • Stay focused on your reading the entire time. If your eyes wander, bring them back to your book.
  • When we are finished, write the page number you stopped on and a 1-2 sentence BTH. Add one place that you used a thinking strategy (visualizing, questioning, context clues) to deepen your understanding of what was happening in the book.

 

Homework:

  1. Read 20+ pages and log:
    1. Title/author
    2. p. ____ to p. ____
    3. Big Thing that Happened (1-2 sentences: Who? What? When? Where?) + 1 strategy (visualizing, questioning, context clues)
